Statement of Mission
The University of the Virgin Islands is a liberal arts, land-grant institution established
by public statute to meet the higher education needs of the people of the U.S. Virgin
Islands and the wider Caribbean.
The University offers undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs,
which provide the requisite competencies for productive, fulfilling lives and responsible
citizenship.
The University is committed to advancing knowledge through research and public
service, particularly in areas that contribute to understanding and resolving issues and
problems unique to the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean.
