Suggestions for Hurricane Tracking Lab Report
- There should be a brief introduction describing purpose of the exercise, the data and method used for plotting,, etc.
- The body of the report should contain (not necessarily in this order)
- The name of the storm. You can determine this with a bit of research on the UNISYS site at http://weather.unisys.com/hurricane/. The "Best Track: 1851-2003" link will access track maps by year. Your storm will be found in the Atlantic between the years 1980 and 1995.
- A description of the history/timeline of the storm (depression, storm, hurricane category), including any trends and/or a path description.
- Discussion of unusual or special features about the storm, including the maximum strength of your hurricane ( Saffir-Simpson scale) and a description of the potential damage of such a category.
- Determine any point where the storm made landfall (including islands!) and
3. The conclusion should briefly summarize the body and discuss any special considerations such as limitations or difficulties in plotting and interpreting the data, researching the details, etc.
