PLUMBING QUESTIONS
As in the previous modules, it is suggested that you start by taking a careful look at the plumbing in your own home. Even if you are presently living in one of UVI's dormitories, there may be useful insights to be had. Are there persistent plumbing problems? Are there inconveniences? Visit the homes of friends and ask them what problems they have had and how they dealt with those problems. Among the things you might want to consider:
- How many bathrooms will you want and where will they be located? What provisions should be made for outdoor sources or water?
- Are the actual fixtures important to you? Consider both esthetics and functionality. A beautiful Italian marble sink with a pivoting bronze lion head may lose it's charm if the local plumber ends up on your speed dial. There are important questions in which the opinions of long-time home owners may prove to be invaluable.
- Do you anticipate adding additional structures or additions to your property? If so, what provisions do you need to make should you wish to incorporate the plumbing of the new structure into the old?
Good luck and good questioning!
