A glass prism can easily be seen in air. It is clearly visible despite the fact that it is completely transparent. Consider carefully why this so. (Under the right conditions, a clean glass window may not be so easily seen!)
But when the prism is place in a beaker of a certain type of clear vegetable oil, it is virtually invisible! Explain how this can happen? You will be presented with a demonstration in lab this week.
