Natural Science Puzzler

A 100 kg person and a 50 kg person are located 9 m apart on a frictionless frozen lake. There is a light rope between them. They grab each end of the rope and pull until they meet. Answer the following.

  1. Can one person pull harder on the rope than the other?
  2. Will one person move farther than the other? If so, which one.
  3. How far will each person move? Explain how you got your answer.
