PHY 211 Laboratory for 8/23/01

Measurements and Errors

For the first lab, the intent is to introduce you to a few concepts and skills that you will use throughout the semester. You will be led through a variety of simple measurements and calculations with discussions of error analysis and reporting. In addition, you'll get to practice the fine art of rough estimates. Be sure you have worked problems 1.6 through 1.9 and problem 1.26 from this week's homework assignment before coming to the lab.

You'll need the following:

EQUIPMENT:

  1. A calculator.
  2. Pencil/pen and paper.
  3. A light jacket. Some find the lab a bit chilly.
