You are asked to raise both of your hands with your pointing fingers straight, level and pointing away from you. A meter stick is placed across both fingers. You are then instructed to slowly slide your fingers together.
Not only does the meter stick stay on your fingers until the very end, they always meet at the 50 cm mark. And this happens even if the meter stick is not placed symmetrically across your fingers to start. Why does this happen?
