The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences supports UVI students who choose to engage the fine arts, not as a major but as an additional area of interest for our students. The college offers a minor in fine arts that combines a variety of classes and opportunities for study. The idea is to have our students broaden their horizons and explore an area of deep personal interest.
Many students discover that their major area of study has a specialization where your fine arts study will aid in their career. Scientists who study fine arts, particularly drawing and design are well skilled at expressing their scientific work. Many teachers find that having skills in art and music make teaching more fun and interesting. And, many professionals find the skills learned in theater are very helpful when it comes to delivering professional papers. So the fine arts open all kinds of career doors of opportunity.
