Albert A. Sheen Campus, St. Croix

The 130-acre Albert A. Sheen Campus is located at Golden Grove, midway between the towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted on St. Croix.

The campus offers several new facilities to enhance student learning and campus life, including the Research and Extension Center, the Melvin H. Evans Center Library, the Delta M. Jackson Dorsch Complex, the V.I. Cooperative Extension Service, the Agricultural Experiment Station and the BUCS Fitness Center. The Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, includes academic facilities, a student life complex, a multi-million dollar Research and Technology Park.

St. Thomas campus

The 388-acre St. Thomas campus is located three miles west of the town of Charlotte Amalie and overlooks John Brewers Bay.

The campus contains academic facilities, administrative and student service buildings, residence halls and the Ralph M. Paiewonsky Library. Frequently used facilities include the Administration and Conference Center, the William P. MacLean Marine Science Center, the Sports and Fitness Center and the UVI Wellness Center. The renowned Reichhold Center for the Arts is also located on the St. Thomas campus. State-of-the-art telecommunication facilities and Internet 2 connect the campuses and the St. John Academic Center for video-conference classes and university meetings.

Off-Campus Facilities

  • Etelman Observatory
    In 1962, Harry I Etelman donated his house and the astronomical observatory he had built within it, to the, then, College of the Virgin Islands.  Etelman Observatory serves as a center for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education excellence, a venue for public science outreach activities, and a fundamental astrophysics and geophysics research station.   • St. John Academic Center
    The University of the Virgin Islands St. John Academic Center is located on the third floor of The Marketplace shopping center in Cruz Bay, St. John. The Center’s videoconferencing technology allows UVI students on St. John to take select courses that are offered on the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses.   • Virgin Islands Environmental Resource Station (VIERS)
    VIERS, located on the island of St. John, provides unique outdoor and marine learning opportunities through environmental education programs and research activities.  Situated on the remote southern shore of the Virgin Islands National Park, close to hiking trails and coral reefs, VIERS’ 12 cabins can accommodate up to 48 overnight guests.  A waterside laboratory, with dock, is accessible to students and researchers. Learn more about UVI’s Virgin Islands Environmental Resource Station.
