UVI Welcomes 50 Doctoral Candidates in the First Ph.D. Cohort

The University of the Virgin Islands welcomed the inaugural cohort for the University’s Ph.D. in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change. The inaugural cohort, composed of 50 students from the Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and the United States, met on Sunday, Aug. 22, for a welcome reception at the President’s Guest House. Participants will be able to complete many of the program requirements online, but residency dates are required each semester. Coastweeks Doubles Down on Goal of Pristine Beaches

Coastweeks events in the territory will run Sept. 17- Oct. 31. This year, Coastweeks events will include a renewed emphasis on litter prevention, thanks to a $99,000 Marine Debris Program grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to researchers at the University of the Virgin Islands. read more

Reichhold to Launch New Season at Business After Hours

The Reichhold Center for the Arts will launch its 38th season at the annual Business After Hours event at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25. Hosted jointly with the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce, the Reichhold Center’s new season launch party will have not only chart-topping artists and awe-inspiring performances, but will celebrate moments of pride for the territory. read more

UVI to Offer 1st Ph.D. Program & 7 New Masters and Bachelor’s Degrees this Fall

This Fall, UVI will offer its first ever Ph.D. program along with two new master level programs in the School of Education, and two new master and three new bachelor level programs in the School of Business. New this year will also be three additional minors: one in Health Sciences, one in Sociology and one in Spanish. All of the new programs will start in the fall of 2016. read more

Media Invited to Cover Fall Semester Orientation Week Activities

Members of the media are invited to cover selected activities planned during UVI’s fall semester Orientation Week for new and transfer students. Official Orientation Week activities run from Sunday, Aug. 14, through Saturday, Aug. 22. Numerous sessions are designed to help students adjust to the academic and social aspects of college life. read more

UVI to Welcome New Students with Orientation Activities and Events

The University of the Virgin Islands will welcome new and transfer students with a week of orientation activities beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, and Monday, Aug. 15, on the St. Thomas Campus. Orientation, which is a requirement for new students, begins with residence hall check-in from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, on the Sheen Campus, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, on the St. Thomas Campus. read more

University to Postpone UVI School of Medicine’s LCME Accreditation Application

University of the Virgin Islands President David Hall announced on Wednesday, July 27, the decision to postpone resubmitting its application for accreditation for the UVI School of Medicine (UVI-SOM) to the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) for one year. read more
