For some time now, Prof. Kathy Sheats has been trying to find a way to communicate with potential nursing students and get the word out that a fully accredited nursing program has openings for new students. Waiting lists have become the reality for many students on the mainland.
During September, at the National League for Nursing Education Summit, she made contact with representatives of the Discover Nursing Website, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. The campaign by Johnson & Johnson to recruit students into nursing has been extremely successful and reaches millions through televised public service announcements with the "We Dare to Care" theme.
At the urging of Ms. Sheats, Johnson & Johnson agreed to add a section to the website which lists nursing programs without a waiting list. If you are potential nursing student, please go to the website to find out which programs may have a place available for you.
