Nursing Program Seeks Federal FundsBetween Sept. 17-19, 2002, Professor Janzie Allmacher attended an invitation only seminar focused on techniques to write a successful Nursing Workforce Diversity grant proposal. The workshop, named the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Nursing Workforce Diversity Technical Assistance Workshop, was held in Silver Spring, Maryland. and was sponsored by HRSA.
Since her return, Professor Allmacher and Joan Marsh, Chair of Nursing on St.
Croix, have been
working tirelessly to complete the grant, which is due December 6, 2002.
The grant application addresses such issues as
pre-entry preparation for ADN students and linkage with The Kids Into Health
Careers Initiative to establish a Future Nurses' Club for middle school
students. A component of the grant will also focus on teaching/learning
strategies and cultural awareness of the faculty.
