Summer Online Classes Facilitate Transfer Students
Students wishing to enter clinical nursing courses in the fall should immediately contact us and plan to register for NUR 100 (Medical Terminology) and NUR 104 (Drug Dosage Calculation) if needed, to be taught this summer online. UVI uses the Blackboard Academic Suite to facilitate online learning.
Transfer students have often met all other prerequisites, including anatomy/physiology, psychology and sociology. Questions about admission should be addressed to Ms. Felicia Polydore (fpolydo@uvi.edu) in the admissions office (340-692-4158). Students may take summer classes while their applications are being processed.
At this time, the Associate Degree Program does not have a waiting list and can assist students on the mainland who are unable to get into a program due to long waiting lists. This fall's incoming class included students transferring in from California, Oregon, Washington, Florida, Maryland and Michigan. We are pleased to be able to assist these students in meeting their goals.
UVI's ASN program is accredited by the NLNAC. Graduates are eligible to take NCLEX-RN in any U.S. state or territory as long as they meet the other requirements of the Board of Nursing.
For additional information, contact professor Kathy Sheats (ksheats@uvi.edu) 340-692-4011 or our Administrative Assistant, Ms. Ann-Merrie Hendrickson (ahendri@uvi.edu) 340-692-4010.
