The 130-acre campus of UVI's St. Croix campus is located at Golden Grove, midway between the towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted. The entrance to the campus is lined by royal palm trees. The buildings include residence halls, a Student Center and the Melvin H. Evans Center for Learning (the main academic building). There is a historic Great House, where classes were held in the 60's and 70's. The Research and Extension Center opened in 1992, and the Nursing complex has been home to the Division of Nursing Education since 1996. The Student Center opened in the 1998-99 academic year, the Student Center and the recently constructed outdoor athletic and recreational facilities are all brand new to the St. Croix campus.
