Alumni Affairs is a unit of the University's Institutional Advancement component. The primary function of the Alumni Affairs office is to develop an environment that fosters continuous commitment among current students, alumni and others to offer financial and moral support for, and to participate in, the mission and continued growth of the institution.

Additionally, the office serves as a liaison between the University of the Virgin Islands Alumni Association and the institution. The Alumni Association is comprised of 12 chapters that are located in Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, Florida, Nevis, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, St. Thomas/St. John, Tortola, Washington D.C. Metro Area and South Atlantic.

In order to establish a chapter in a location other than those above, a minimum of 10 alumni must file a petition with the UVI Alumni Association through the Alumni Affairs Office. A chapter is established to support the University in the execution of its mission,  to provide a support network for students and alumni, and to be active in forecasting and solving community issues.  The Alumni Affairs office provides technical assistance to all  chapters in the implementation of their programs and activities.

The success of UVI is contingent upon the contributions of its constituencies,  primarily its alumni, which is the largest  constituency.
