(Let’s Pull Together)

In the summer of 1996, VIUAP published the first edition of HARAMBE, a publication devoted to providing a forum for service providers to share information pertinent to the work they do with each other, the consumers, and the community at large. In addition, it serves to encourage scholars and practitioners in the field of Education, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences to share their expertise and views on issues as they relate to individuals with disabilities. It is hoped that the information disseminated through this medium will serve to sensitize the public as well as those persons who are actively involved with individuals with developmental disabilities.

The name HARAMBE was specifically chosen for this publication because it translates to read, “Let’s Pull Together.” This is significant in that it represents our efforts to bring together the different service providers in the territory for the sole purpose of disseminating information that would help the community to better serve individuals with disabilities.

Here is an article from the first edition.
