Tom Joyner's Live "Sky Show" to Benefit UVI Tomorrow |
||
|
Representatives of the University of the Virgin Islands and Scotiabank will join nationally syndicated radio host Tom Joyner in St. Louis tomorrow morning when "The Tom Joyner Morning Show" broadcasts live from the Roberts Orpheum Theater. Check presentations - tentatively set between 7 and 8:30 a.m. - totaling more than $50,000 are scheduled to take place during the May 12 show, which can be heard locally on WWKS-FM 101.3. It's called a "Sky Show" -- and millions of radio listeners will be tuned in tomorrow as UVI Vice President for Institutional Advancement Joseph Boschulte presents the Tom Joyner Foundation with a check representing monies UVI has raised as part of its Tom Joyner Foundation School of the Month campaign. A special presentation of $20,000 from Scotiabank Virgin Islands is also planned. Scotiabank representative Wendie Brown will be in St. Louis to make the presentation. Scotiabank's donation will provide scholarships for students on UVI's St. Croix and St. Thomas campuses. All this month the "Tom Joyner Morning Show" is highlighting UVI's accomplishments, spotlighting UVI's major national and local donors and profiling UVI recipients of Tom Joyner Foundation scholarships. The Tom Joyner Foundation assists African American students in financial need at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the nation. The Tom Joyner Foundation's School of the Month program has raised more than $25 million to date for this single cause. The "Tom Joyner Morning Show" is broadcast to more than 8 million listeners at 100 stations nationwide, including WWKS-FM 101.3 in the U.S. Virgin Islands. |
