Emerging Caribbean Scientists Program Offers
|Scholarships, Financial Support to UVI Students

UVI's Emerging Caribbean Scientists (ECS) program is offering a variety of scholarships and financial support for students enrolled in science and mathematics programs scheduled for the summer and fall of 2007 and the spring of 2008. More than $240,000 is available as direct support to UVI students majoring in the areas of physics, computer science, process technology, biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and psychology.

"The ECS program provides students with various opportunities to promote excellence," said Dr. Robert Stolz, associate professor of mathematics at UVI. "These programs include scholarships, research stipends, research traineeships for students working with faculty, summer support for undergraduate student research and travel." Stolz said the support is funded through programs offered by federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institutes of Health.
