UVI-CES to Hold Recognition Award Ceremonies |
||
|
The University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service cordially invites the public to the Basic Computer Training Course and Clothing Construction Class Recognition Award Ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. The ceremony will take place at the UVI Great Hall on the St. Croix campus. After six weeks of basic computer training, 30 students will receive certificates of completion. According to Marthious Clavier, extension agent and class instructor, one of the goals of this course is to increase the participants' knowledge and usage of computers, including teaching them how to use email accounts and to search for information using the World Wide Web. Eleven participants in the Beginners Clothing Construction classes will show off the garments made during an eight-week period. The class was designed for persons with little or no knowledge of sewing or operation of a sewing machine. Pants, jackets, skirts and dresses are just a few of the items that will be on display. Additionally, a display of holiday gift items such as throw pillows, place mats napkins, baskets, decorated towels and shower curtains will also be on exhibit. For more information on the recognition ceremonies, contact Marthious Clavier at 692-4090 or Rosalind Browne at 692-3084. |
