University of the Virgin Islands alumnus Dr. Trevor A. C. Connor, DDS, was recognized as an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He is one of 417 dentists nationwide who hold such membership.

A leading expert in implant care, Dr. Connor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the then College of the Virgin Islands in 1983. He has a dental practice in Nisky Center on St. Thomas.

To qualify for Associate Fellowship, Dr. Connor completed 300 hours of post-doctoral instruction in implant dentistry, performed implant cases and passed the Academy's Associate Fellow examination. This examination, which was conducted by an expert panel of implant dentists, included a written examination, a series of oral examinations and defense of three implant cases that he had completed.

The examination process measured Dr. Connor's clinical proficiency in surgical prosthetic dental implant techniques, in-depth knowledge of dental implants, and commitment to excellence in implant dental practice and to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry's standards for ethics and patient welfare.

The Academy has more than 3,500 members that include general dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists and prosthodontists. The Academy's Associate Fellow and Fellow credentials are a testament to excellence in implant dentistry.
