Due to travel issues, the dates for the University of the Virgin Islands advanced volleyball clinic, featuring University of Tampa head volleyball coach Chris Catanach, have been changed to June 16 to 19. The clinic, which will be held at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center, was originally scheduled for June 23 to 26. Catanach, who led the UT Spartans volleyball team to the NCAA Division II championship in 2006, will also assist with the preparation of UVI volleyball teams for the upcoming season. The UVI clinic is geared towards advanced male and female volleyball players ages 12 to 24. It will also allow high school student-athletes to show case and develop their skills. Scholarship opportunities are available for high school seniors interested in playing intercollegiate volleyball at UVI. Registration will be available for the clinic starting at 2 p.m. on June 11 and 12 in the lobby of the Sports and Fitness Center. The clinic officially begins on Monday, June 16, with daily sessions running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of the four-day clinic is $175. Catanach, who was born in the USVI, is in his 24th season in charge of the Spartans. During that time he has built one of the elite volleyball programs in the country, earning 15 Sunshine State Conference titles, 21 NCAA playoff appearances, 10 trips to the Elite 8, two national runner-up finishes and the 2006 NCAA title. The Spartans are also the 2007 NCAA South Regional Champions. Catanach has been selected the American Volleyball Coaches Association's South Region Coach of the Year 11 times, including the past three consecutive years. He has compiled a record of 749 wins and 145 losses at Tampa, including an impressive 31-3 season in 2007. His 2007 squad earned three All American selections and one All American Honorable Mention.
