WELCOME!

When you're the only one of America's historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) located outside of the continental United States, you face a tremendous challenge.

The University of the Virgin Islands lies in the heart of one of the most beautiful -- and fastest developing -- areas of the world. The Caribbean. Founded in 1962 as a publicly-funded coeducational, liberal arts college, UVI continues to fine-tune its original mission. Looking toward the year 2000, that mission is to provide a comprehensive educational experience that will not only add value to individual lives, but produce leaders who will find international solutions to regional issues facing the Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and the world.

The UVI experience is uniquely multi-cultural, international by means of technology, and intellectually stimulating. It's a vital and exciting environment for educating future leaders of a global community.

And that's the UVI challenge...to train leaders for the new century who will be able to make global decisions both wisely and well.
