"Providing Information for Strategic Decisions"
The Office of Institutional Research and Planning is under the Provost Component of the University of the Virgin Islands. We are an essential component of the university providing data internally in support of data-driven decision making.
This office was established to collect, organize, analyze, distribute and present data for planning, decision-making and policy formulation to support the University's mission. We provide institutional data for the tri-annual meetings of the Board of Trustees through the Key Performance Indicators - KPIs, external constituents, including federal agencies, our accrediting body, local government and the public.
In addition, OIRP provides data externally by completing mandated federal and accrediting body reports as well as providing data for our stakeholders in standard and ad hoc reports. We report annually to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and Middle States Commission on Higher Education; administer national surveys bi-annually such as Cooperative Institutional Research Program Freshman Survey (CIRP) and the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)- data collected from this survey is a critical activity for accreditation. We also participate in the Peterson's Annual Survey of Undergraduates, US News Admission and the Annual Survey of Colleges (CollegeBoard) among others.
Institutional Research and Planning supports student success and activities which contribute to the social and economic transformation of the U.S. Virgin Islands by providing timely and accurate data, statistics and information.
