Learning is a lifelong endeavor that provides new challenges and experiences for self-fulfillment. CELL personal enrichment programs provide a variety of learning experiences in an array of subjects designed to improve the overall quality of life.

Open to individuals of all backgrounds, ages and stages of life, these courses allow you to seek new challenges and experiences that enrich your life or intellectual growth. Whether you want to learn a foreign language, make beautiful floral designs, decorate a cake or even learn basic computer skills, the possibilities are endless.

Personal Enrichment Courses and Programs

Floral Design
Create your own floral arrangements. Learn concepts such as design, color, texture coordination and proper handling of fresh flowers that you can utilize in your home year-round.

Cake Decorating
Learn the fundamentals of cake decorating such as preparing icing and using decorating tools. You will also receive tips on baking, leveling, coloring and assembling your cake with a professional touch.
Prerequisites: Basic baking and math skills

Conversational Spanish
With the growing Hispanic population, knowledge of Spanish is more valuable than ever.  This course will facilitate more successful encounters in business, travel, social or educational settings.  Learn to enhance your understanding of Spanish by focusing on communication strategies and conversational skills.

Common Sense Financial Planning & Investing
Finally, a common sense approach to investing for V.I. residents. Understand how to manage your personal finances in order to confidently make educated decisions to secure your future. Topics include: Financial Management Overview, Retirement Plan Structures and Strategies, Stock & Bond Market Advanced Techniques, Tax Strategies, Estate Planning.

Massage Therapy
Are you interested in learning more about the techniques used in therapeutic massage for relaxation? This hands-on, introductory course is designed to explore the art of massage therapy for personal benefit.  Students will learn: the history and evolution of massage therapy while acquiring the techniques of Swedish massages; the benefits and limitations of massage therapy while exploring career options and professional standards and much more.

SAT Prep 
SAT scores can make or break your college application package. Gain tips and strategies to effectively prepare for the SAT exam, maximize your score potential and improve your chances of getting into the college of your choice.  The SAT Prep Course is offered through UVICELL, in partnership with Innovative Communications Corporation on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited. Applicants must be public high school students starting the 10th grade, with a GPA of 2.0 to 3.5. An administrative fee of $20 is required at orientation.

English as a Second Language
Would you like to increase your skills in English?  Are you new to the English language?  Join other students for a chance to converse and learn the basics of the English language.  Emphasis will be placed on the development of speaking, listening and comprehending skills. This course consists of two components and will present information on the everyday life and culture of the Virgin Islands.

Part 1: Speaking in English
Spanish speakers will learn how to say common phrases and ask basic questions in English.

Part 2: Listening and Comprehending English
Spanish speakers will learn how to comprehend many basic English expressions and phrases used in daily life.

Basic Computer Skills
Gain a solid foundation of computing principles and learn to use your computer with confidence. Computer jargon is kept to a minimum and emphasis will be on hands-on exercises. This course is ideal for those with limited or no experience and would like to develop their understanding of computers for personal use or further develop their careers.

Intermediate Computer Skills
This course builds on the introductory-levels skills attained in the Basic Computing course. You'll have an opportunity to review typing, Microsoft Word, the internet and much more.

Intro to Digital Photography
Hesitant to try your hand at digital photography? Need to know the difference between optical and digital zoom? This interactive course will guide you in making the transition from traditional film photography to the high-tech world of digital photography.

Art of Calligraphy
Calligraphy explores and investigates the origins of the art of "beautiful writing".  If you've ever had a desire to learn calligraphy, this course is designed to foster aesthetic growth, develop your ability and foster creative expression.
