CMES - Academics - Diving Program

SCUBA diving is used in education and research at UVI which has been recently certified by American Association of Underwater Scientists (AAUS).  Students can earn PADI certifications in Open Water Diving and Research diving by enrolling in MSC 111 (Scientific Diving) and MSC 211 (Research diving).  Many undergraduate and graduate courses include opportunities for students who are certified divers to do independent research and environmental assessments on SCUBA.  Visiting researchers who are approved to dive at UVI can pay for SCUBA airfills and boat use.  For more information on diving, contact Mr. Steve Prosterman, Dive Officer, at sproste@uvi.edu or (340) 693-1399.
