| The Cooperative Extension Service's 4-H Summer Academy 2013 focuses on academic excellence and social/emotional development considering the needs of the whole child. This five-week enrichment program for enthusiastic learners, ages 5-14, offers a wide range of activities to enhance critical thinking skills, problem solving techniques, and creativity. Participants have an opportunity to probe a wide variety of subjects; including visual arts, mathematics, science, reading, language arts, public speaking, and computer technology. Additionally, they will be able to select activities including field trips and outdoor recreation, nutrition education, clothing construction, personal development, and a youth entrepreneurial program known as Mini-Society®. Summer Brand Camp June 24 to July 26 Apply by June 14 STT | The eighth annual UVI Summer Band Camp is scheduled for June 24 through July 26 on the University’s St. Thomas Campus. Retired UVI Professor Austin A. Venzen, the camp director, said the camp is open to junior high and senior high school music or band students ages 12 to 17. The camp fee is $400, with a $75 application. An optional lunch during the five-week program is available for an additional $225.
