The BS in chemistry is a four-year program as described in the paradigm.  The department is renovating the labs and is purchasing $750,000 of new analytical equipment.  The goal is to become an ACS certified program by 2010.

In addition to the course work, student research possibilities during the summer and school year abound. Currently professors are working on chemical content of local plants and coral reefs for possible medical uses; environmental pollution of reefs and cistern water; advanced ligands for clean-up of nuclear waste; innovative analytical equipment for the detection of explosives and environmental toxins; and advanced antifouling ship coatings.
