Student Research Symposia
11th Annual Summer Student Research Symposium St. Thomas Campus Friday, July 26th, 2013
| Our research symposia showcase Biology, Marine Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computational Science, Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Psychology and Mathematics student research with faculty at the University of the Virgin Islands, as well as at other institutions. In the past, students have conducted research at Purdue University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brookhaven National Laboratory, University of Pittsburgh, Lehigh University, South Carolina State University, Tulane University, Auburn University, Duke University, Carnegie Mellon University, among others. The College of Science and Mathematics, with support from the ECS Program, hosts three research symposia each year: Fall Research Symposium (usually the third Sunday in September on St. Thomas), Spring Research Symposium (usually the third Saturday in March on St. Croix), and Summer Research Symposium (usually the last day of the summer research programs on St. Thomas). In order to present, it is required to complete a registration form, available at http://ecs.uvi.edu. | Answers to Frequently Asked Questions: | | How should I format my abstract? | Abstract Guidelines Abstracts must contain the following information: + Presentation Title + Presenter/Presenters + Faculty Mentors and Affiliations + Acknowledgment of Funding Source(s) | | Who is eligible to present? | We encourage all undergraduate and graduate science, math, and psychology students to submit an abstract. Registration is required and is available at http://ecs.uvi.edu.
Fee vouchers are available for non-ECS affiliated presenters. Minors will have to get permission from parents (or legal guardian) to participate. | | What are the evaluation criteria? | Poster Presentation Tips Presenters will be evaluated based on their visual material(s), research content, oral presentation, and ability to answer questions. Arrangements will be made for your poster printing payment. The best place to get your posters printed is on the St. Thomas Campus is at the Conservation Data Center (CDC).
