VITRAID
1. What does VITRAID stand for and who funds them?
VITRAID stands for Virgin Islands Technology Related Assistance to Individuals with Disabilities. VITRAID is funded from the US Department of Education.
2. When did VITRAID come into existence?
The University of the Virgin Islands and VIUCEDD received the AT Grant in ----. This program comes directly out of the Assistive Technology Act, amended in 1998.
3. Is VITRAID an advocacy organization or a service provider?
VI TRAID is both. We help advocate to find services/products and provide 1:1 consultation to do any follow up with our services.
4. Does VITRAID work only with people with specific disabilities?
VITRAID works with anyone who has a disability that requires AT.
5. Are there any fees for VITRAID services?
There are only fees related to the VIATF Loan service. VITRAIDs services are free of charge to individuals, organizations and the community at large.

VIATF, Inc. works with all three main islands, St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas. Our marketing efforts cover Water Island.

VIUCEDD
1. What does VIUCEDD stand for and who funds them?
VIUCEDD stands for Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. VIUCEDD is part of a national network that consists of 67 Centers within the States and Territories. The UCEDDs are funded by US Department of Health and Human Services.
2. When did VIUCEDD come into existence?
VIUCEDD was created in 1994 under the leadership of Dr. Yegin Habtes, Professor of Education at the University of the Virgin Islands.
3. Is VIUCEDD an advocacy organization?
VIUCEDD works with both individuals with disabilities as well as systems.
4. Does VIUCEDD work only with people with developmental disabilities?
VIUCEDD works primarily with individuals with developmental disabilities, but VIUCEDD also works with dually diagnosed as well as people with learning disabilities, including ADHD and mental health disabilities.
5. Are there any fees for VIUCEDD services?
Most of VIUCEDD's services are free. At times, there is a nominal fee to cover training costs. Our technical assistance is free to agencies as well as all our materials and documents. Services that could have associated fees are typically the pre-service and in-service programs.

VIUCEDD works with all three main islands, St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas. Our marketing efforts cover Water Island.
7. What are the core services of VIUCEDD?
VIUCEDD provides, information and assistance to individuals with disabilities, technical assistance to organizations, training to a variety of stakeholder groups, advocacy including annual conferences, pre-service and in-service programs, basic and applied research and material dissemination.

9. How does VIUCEDD differ from other disabilities programs throughout the territory?
VIUCEDD is charged to provide 1:1 advocacy as well as systems, which is like many other organizations here on the islands. We are though uniquely positioned to provide academic trainings and service programs that help make advancement for people with disabilities by working through providers and educators.
