Four UVI students – Shellese Cannonier, Mary Mootoo, Odari Thomas and Cherissre Tyrell-Boateng – are the winners of the University’s 11th Annual Fall Student Research Symposium. They were among more than 50 UVI students who presented the results of research conducted over the summer at the symposium which was held on Sept. 20, on the St. Thomas campus. The students’ research was conducted at UVI and other institutions nationwide. Student presentations were evaluated by a panel of judges from the community for scientific content and clarity of presentation. The winners will receive certificates at UVI’s Spring Academic Awards Ceremony.
A detailed news release, along with photos of the winners, will be available in the near future. The Division of Science and Mathematics and the Emerging Caribbean Scientists program sponsored the symposium. Details are available at the Emerging Caribbean Scientists program web site, http://ecs.uvi.edu, or via email at ecs@uvi.edu.
