Professor Gabriel Ogunmokun, the Director of the Global Institute for Leadership and Management Development at the US University of the Virgin Islands, is also the Chair of the Department of Marketing and Management and the Chair of Scholarship (Research), at the US University of the Virgin Islands, School of Business. He is the President of the Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development (AWBMAMD) and the President of the World Academy of Researchers, Educators and Scholars (WARES) in Business, Social Science, Humanities and Education. He is also the Editor of the Journal of International Marketing and exporting and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management and World Business Research. He is an editorial advisory board member of many refereed journals. He is a professional member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
He started his lecturing career in the early eighties and has lectured in various Universities in Australia, Brunei, Canada, Fiji, Hong Kong, Switzerland, etc. For example, he was for several years a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Management at the Monash University (Gippsland Campus), in Victoria, Australia and was also a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and the Director of the Research Centre for International Marketing and Exporting at the University of Western Australia for many years. He also worked for several years as an Associate Professor and Director of Research at the Faculty of Business, Department of Marketing and Tourism, University of Southern Queensland in Australia. He has worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of Regina in Canada and at the University of Berne in Switzerland.
He has an international reputation as a researcher and consultant in the fields of International Marketing; Strategic Marketing; Marketing Planning; Exporting; Promotion and Marketing Communications; International Business, Global Marketing; Industrial Marketing; Health care Marketing, Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship; Marketing in Not-for-Profit Organisations etc.
He has published a number of books in the areas of International Marketing, International Business, Marketing, and Global Strategy. His journal publications can be found in many international refereed journals including: Journal of Global Marketing; International Business Review; The Columbia Journal of World Business: Global Business Review; International Journal of Management, Journal of International Marketing and Exporting; Asian Academy of Management Journal, World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development, Journal of Asian Pacific Marketing, International Journal of Trade and Global Markets, Journal of Industrial Marketing Management, etc.
Some of the Academic Prizes and Awards he has received include being awarded in 1979, the John Storey Memorial Prize for the best graduating student in the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at the Western Australia College of Advanced Education, Perth, Western Australia (now Edith Cowan University). In 1980 he was again awarded John Storey Memorial Prize for the best graduating student in the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration at the Western Australia Institute of Technology (now Curtin University). In 1982 he was awarded the Alumni Post-Graduate Medal for outstanding achievement in academic and community activities at the Western Australia Institute of Technology (now Curtin University). In 1999 he received the Excellence in Teaching Award at the University of Western Australia, Faculty of Commerce and Economics. He was nominated as International Educator of the Year 2003 by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England. For several years, he was awarded the Excellence in Postgraduate Supervision Commendation Award at the University of Western Australia. Dr Gabriel Ogunmokun is listed consistently every year in the directory of Who’s Who in the World since 2001 until now.
