UVI hosts students from the U.S. Virgin Islands, many states on the U.S. mainland and from throughout the Caribbean. In the spring of 2010, UVI had a combined enrollment of 2,642 full-time, part-time and graduate students on its two campuses. There were 1,532 students enrolled on the St. Thomas campus and 1,110 on the St. Croix campus. Of those, 1,951 were females and 691 were males.
