St Thomas Health Services - Important Info
Health Insurance
All full time students at time of registration pay a medical insurance fee which allow for accidental health insurance coverage. Part-time students are not covered under the insurance and will have to pay full medical bills for injuries. Part-time students can make special arrangement at time of registration to pay the insurance fees. All parents are encouraged to place their child under their insurance to provide for added coverage for costs that will not be covered by UVI accidental insurance. The form can be obtained from the registration office.
Excuse for Classes
All illnesses must be verified before an excuse is issued. If the student is treated by their private physician, it is the responsibility of the student's private physician to issue an excuse. The student however, can have the record of the injuries/illness sent to Health Services and an excuse will be issued at that time.
Special Diet
Students on special diets must be cleared through the campus physician. All students on special diet must submit diets in writing to Health Services within two weeks of the semester. After that time, no changes will be made except those authorize by a physician.
Medical Records
Health Records are kept in strictest confidence. No medical information will be released without written approval from the student.
Immunizations
Prior to admission all students are required to have all standards immunizations. Anyone lacking proper immunization will be referred to the Immunization Clinic. Please refer to the UVI Physical form for required immunizations.
Health Service Fees
Full time students are required to pay a health service fee per semester which is included in the tuition cost. Part-time students and UVI faculty and staff will be charged a $20.00 fee per physician consultation. Summer students are required to pay for health services.
