OFFICE OF SPONSORED PROGRAMS & TITLE III
MISSION STATEMENT
“The mission of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is to facilitate sponsored program activities by increasing awareness and competiveness in the pursuit of external funding”.
OSP assists all members of the University community in their efforts to seek out and secure external awards for programs of research, scholarly and creative activities, education and training, and public service; and to support faculty and staff in their efforts to manage external award funds effectively and prudently, in order to ensure that all Sponsor and University commitments and expectations are met. We also serve as the point of contact for a variety of customer groups, including sponsors, other UVI research units, faculty, and department staff.
WHAT WE DO
OSP at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) supports campus researchers and their staff with a variety of extramural funding transactions. This office is responsible for the effective and timely handling of all research proposals, as well as preparing, interpreting, negotiating, and accepting awards/agreements on behalf of the University for projects funded by federal and state agencies, and other public and private sources. The office is also responsible for drafting, negotiating, and executing awards and subawards for collaborative research.
IRB/IACUC
OSP also serves as the centralized University administrator for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for human subject research and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) for animal subject research.
TITLE III
OSP is the home of the UVI Title III Office. Title III, Part B—Strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, which has partnered with the University of the Virgin Islands to implement several projects that serve to strengthen the Institution.
