UVI Institutional Review Board (IRB) For Human Subjects Protection

The OSP provides administrative support for the federally-mandated Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects Protection (IRB).

The IRB is made up of faculty and non-affiliated community member(s), scientists and non-scientists who must review all research at the Institution that involves human subjects. Such review is based on guidelines published by the federal Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP).  www.hhs.gov/ohrp/

Research protocols must be submitted to the OSP for IRB review prior to the commencement of any research involving human subjects, regardless of funding source.

The required IRB Face Page and IRB Protocol Form are available in the forms section at the bottom of the page.

Approved research protocols must also be reviewed annually. Any changes to research protocols must be reported to the OSP for IRB review.
