Miss UVI


Ivory Carter was crowned Miss UVI 2012-2013 during the Miss UVI Ambassadorial Competition held Saturday, March 31, at the Reichhold Center for the Arts on St. Thomas. Raynyse Nesbitt was named first runner up. Latoya Rouse and Najuma Dunn also competed for the title and are a part of the court.

In addition to receiving the title, Carter won the Best Ambassadorial Presentation and Miss Congeniality competition segments. The 21-year-old junior is a Criminal Justice major at the Albert A. Sheen campus on St. Croix. She hopes to someday become a detective with the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Nesbitt, an 18-year-old sophomore, is an Applied Mathematics major who plans to get her wings with the United States Air Force. She also won Best Talent, Miss Popularity and Miss Photogenic competitions, and tied for Business Wear. Rouse, a 26-year-old junior who majors in Psychology, won the Best Evening Wear segment. Upon graduation, she plans to return home to St. Kitts to become a teacher. Dunn, a 21-year-old sophomore, who majors in Computer Science, is from the island of Jamaica. She tied with Nesbitt in the Business Wear segment. She believes that if there is no struggle, there is no progress.
