VIUCEDD provides technical assistance and training to schools in the Virgin Islands supporting the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Support. VIUCEDD staff has conducted district trainings on how to establish and sustain Positive Behavioral Support programs at both the district level and for individual schools. Continued technical assistance and professional development to area schools is provided by VIUCEDD as it continues to improve and expand it's PBS programs.
School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) is comprised of a broad range of systemic and individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning outcomes while preventing problem behavior with all students. SW-PBS is not a specific “model” but a compilation of effective practices, interventions, and systems change strategies that have a long history of empirical support and development and individually have been demonstrated to be empirically effective and efficient. In addition, SW-PBS has relevant applications to educating all students in schools, not just students with disabilities. (OSEP Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)
