On behalf of administration, faculty, staff and students, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Division of Nursing Education at the University of the Virgin Islands. You are about to embark on an educational excursion leading to limitless career destinations. These are exciting times in nursing as we face healthcare challenges in a culturally diverse world. About the Dean
Cheryl Franklin, DNS, RN, was appointed Dean of Nursing during the summer of 2008. Previously, Dr. Franklin served the New Orleans area of Louisiana for over three decades as a registered nurse in clinical practice and as an exceptional educator in the field of Nursing. Beginning her teaching career as a Clinical Instructor at the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in Baton Rouge, and Dillard University, Dr. Franklin later served as Associate Professor, Level Coordinator, Director of the Associate of Science Nursing Program and finally Assistant Dean for the College of Nursing and Allied Health at Nicholls State University at Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Her educational credentials include: Doctorate of Nursing Science in Adult Health Nursing from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans; Master of Science in Nursing from Louisiana State University Medical Center; and Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from Dillard University in New Orleans.
