MMES - Financial Information


Tuition
Students pay tuition on a per credit basis. Cost of tuition for Academic Year (AY) 2011-2012 is $330 per graduate credit for VI residents, and $660 per graduate credit for non-residents. For example, if a student enrolls in 20 credits in year 1 (2 semesters @10 credits) s/he will pay $6,660 (resident) or $13,200 (non-resident) in tuition.

Teaching Assistantships
Up to three MMES Teaching Assistantship are available every year on a competitive basis. TAs gain valuable teaching experience while leading two undergraduate laboratory sections or completing other duties as assigned, under the direction of a primary faculty member. TAship appointments are made for the nine month academic year and provide a stipend of $11,200 per academic year. Note that TAships do not include tuition remission at this time. Applicants interested in applying for a TAship should electronically submit a TA application form (PDF) at the same time that they apply for acceptance into the MMES program.

Research Assistantships
A limited number of Research Assistantships is available on a competitive basis for incoming MMES students. Since each assistantship varies in the qualifications needed in an applicant and in the scope of duties, a description of each opportunity will be posted separately on this website at it becomes available.
