The second annual UVI Research Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2013.
We invite research faculty, teaching faculty, and students to submit abstracts of 200 words or less for research posters and roundtable discussions. We welcome proposals from all disciplines and on all topics to demonstrate the research talent at UVI. The formats—posters and roundtables—are intended to encourage the presentations and discussion of research projects at different stages of development, as well as to foster intellectual exchange and collaboration.
We particularly encourage faculty to collaborate with, and assist students in, the development of abstracts and posters for UVI Research Day.
Formats Description
1. Poster
The poster session allows participants to present their research and have informal discussions with attendees. Proposals for poster session should include: the title of the poster; the name, title, affiliation (i.e., college, school or department) and e-mail address of the author; and an abstract of the poster.
2. Roundtable
A roundtable is a group of participants that convenes with the goal of generating discussion around an interesting topic. It begins with a short position or presentation statements (5-10 minutes). The majority of the session is devoted to group discussion. It generally consists of three participants and the organizer. Proposals for roundtables should include: the title of the roundtable; the name, title, affiliation (i.e., college, school or department), and contact information of the roundtable organizer; the names, titles, affiliations, and email addresses of the proposed roundtable participants; and a description of the position statements or questions that will be under discussion.
