The University of the Virgin Islands, through The Caribbean Writer Press, in partnership with The Caribbean Writer and the Virgin Islands Literary Festival and Book Fair, invites the UVI and wider Virgin Islands community to two encore presentations of Bomba: The Story of a Virgin Islands Hero, the compelling new biography by Virgin Islands author and cultural storyteller Myron Allick.
Written by the youngest son of legendary Virgin Islands mariner Wilfred “Bomba” Allick Sr., the book is both a personal tribute and an important historical work that chronicles the life and legacy of one of the territory’s respected maritime figures.
Through research, oral history, and family archives, Allick shares the stories, traditions, and values of a Virgin Islands maritime community while helping to preserve an important chapter of the territory’s cultural and Caribbean heritage for future generations.
Since its initial release in May, the book has received a warm reception from readers, historians, educators, and members of the Virgin Islands community.
