The Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) invites the community to the 22nd Annual Eastern Caribbean Island Cultures Conference to be held from Thursday, Oct. 31, to Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Great Hall, at the Albert A. Sheen Campus, on St. Croix.

This year’s conference, focusing on: “languages, kinds of literature and cultures of the Eastern and Greater Caribbean,” will feature Dr. George Franklin better known by the stage name, Dr. Zay.

On Wednesday, Oct.30, beginning at 12:30 p.m., participants will be treated to a Cultural Heritage Art Exhibition in the VICCC Suites on the Sheen Campus. The exhibition will emphasize the theme, “Beautifully Stereotyped”. This production was put together by Opi'a Taino International, Inc., an organization of Taino Indians whose mission is to dismiss the myth that Amerindians of the Caribbean are extinct.

Other special highlights of the conference will include the 10th Annual Writing Project Conference on Friday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m., in the Great Hall. This segment will be hosted by Dr.Valerie Combie, director of The Writing Project/The Writing Center.
