Expertise

Research includes Japanese social history, especially gender and sexuality LGBT/sexuality studies, patristic theology, and history of the Orthodox churches in North America and Asia.

The Director of Corporate, Foundation, & Government Relations serves as the matchmaker between the University and private foundations and corporate philanthropy. He works with various units and programs of the University and finds support for them from external sources (mostly on the mainland) whose purposes line up with the University’s mission and strategic goals. Mr. Cleaver encourages members of the University to dream big, then share their dreams with him.
