The overall goal of VI-EPSCoR’s project is to develop, through appropriate investments in competencies and infrastructure, a fully integrated program that crosses physical, biological, and social science disciplines as the means to understanding natural and social patterns and processes in tropical island systems with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

VI-EPSCoR start-up and incubator funding support researchers in exploring new research directions related to the project’s focus on Integrated Caribbean Coastal Ecosystems (ICCE). VI-EPSCoR provides seed funding to researchers to support pilot research, proposal development, and other activities that advance a research project to the point at which it can attract competitive external funding.
