According to the University of Nairobi, 2021, to improve livelihood of the society, there is need to build knowledge and understanding of agribusiness and entrepreneurial knowledge management and manpower with managerial skills on agribusiness enterprises. The goal of this program is aimed at training agribusiness professionals with appropriate scientific knowledge and skills required to implement sustainable business practices to meet societal demands nationally and globally.
The certificate programs are designed to provide hands-on training and entry-level employment skills in agriculture and food production for current and future farmers and ranchers in the Virgin Islands. The programs range from 12 to 18 credits. The courses in these programs can also be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree at the University of the Virgin Islands, creating what is known as a “stackable” degree program.

This program provides training for a wide variety of career opportunities for agribusiness graduates. These include, food and fiber production, marketing, and finance to agricultural support organizations and government agencies. The Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business degree program enables students to obtain a strong foundation in agriculture, finance, management, and economics to make business decisions and minimize risk. Also, uses applied mathematics and statistics to analyze prices and markets. Agricultural Business program emphasizes coursework in areas such as accounting, finance, marketing, international agricultural trade, economics, and agriculture related courses.

Students in the BS program in Agricultural Business will fulfill General Education requirements outlined for the BS degree by taking Freshman Studies courses (if required), taking a proscribed set of 3 humanities courses and 9 additional humanities credits to fulfill the 18-credit humanities requirement, taking 21 credits of proscribed science and math courses, and taking 9 credits of social sciences. Total credits earned must add to 120 credits.Other Requirements*.
