Biography

I have a research background in synthetic organic chemistry and have conducted various research projects at the University of the Virgin Islands. These projects have focused on topics that are of significant importance to the territory, including the invasive lionfish, bioluminescence, water and air quality, and antioxidants.

One area of research that my group is particularly interested in is understanding the geospatial distribution, biometrics, and levels of ciguatera toxins in lionfish populations in the US Virgin Islands. Additionally, we examined how runoff and non-point pollution sources impact water quality in the region. Our research group has also made significant contributions to the study of our bioluminescent lagoon here in St. Croix. Furthermore, we have conducted investigations into the antioxidant activities of herbs and local algae.

Through these research efforts, we aim to expand our understanding of these important topics, contribute to local conservation and environmental management efforts, and explore potential applications for the territory's resources. We are excited to continue our research and make meaningful contributions to the scientific community and the Virgin Islands.
