Biography
Dr. Carolyn Allen received her PhD in African American Studies from Temple University in 1997. She also received a Master of Arts in African American Studies from Temple University in 1994 and a Master of Social Service degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1986. Dr. Allen has 28 years of teaching experience at the university level in both brick-and-mortar and online programs. Dr. Allen has a personal and academic commitment to the area of Diversity Studies. She has delivered a number of professional presentations and developed courses in this area.
At the University of the Virgin Islands, Dr. Allen teaches at the Undergraduate and Graduate level. UVI courses include: SWK 224-Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare, SWK 425-Social Work Methods III, SWK 426-SocialWork Methods IV, SWK 523-Social Welfare Policy, SWK 531-Special Practice I: Child Neglect & Abuse, SWK 532-Organizational Policy and Leadership in Human Service Programs, SWK 534Chemical Dependency, SWK 543-Evaluation Research of Social Problems, Services and Interventions.
