Department of Mathematical Sciences
Students in the Applied Mathematics program will complete three years at UVI and two years at an affiliated university. At the end of the five years, the student will receive a Bachelor of Science from the University of the Virgin Islands and a Bachelor of Science in the chosen engineering discipline from the affiliated university. The engineering liaison officer is available to speak to current and prospective engineering majors regarding course planning, career opportunities, and preparation for graduate school. Entry level courses can be completed on either campus with certain upper level classes only offered on St. Thomas campus, but degree must be completed at another partner institution. For more details about the dual degree enginnering program, visit Dual Degree Engineering Program.
A student may also opt to complete another existing UVI bachelors degree by completing all those requirements before enrolling at the affiliated university for the B. S. in engineering. The University of the Virgin Islands has agreements with Columbia University, University of Florida, and University of South Carolina. The University of South Carolina and the University of Florida are members, along with the University of the Virgin Islands and Clemson University, of the SouthEast Alliance for Graduate Education to the Professoriate (SEAGEP).
