The University of the Virgin Islands Reichhold Center for the Arts (RCA) proudly invites the Virgin Islands community to the premiere of "Mother of the Tide," an original short film created by participants in the Youth Movie-Making Workshop.
The free public screening will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Elridge W. Blake Sports & Fitness Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.
"Mother of the Tide" showcases the creativity, imagination, and storytelling talents of 12 young Virgin Islands filmmakers, ages 12 to 17, who participated in the Reichhold Center's Youth Movie-Making Workshop. Throughout the program, these aspiring filmmakers gained hands-on experience in the art of filmmaking while developing valuable skills in collaboration, communication, and creative expression. The community is encouraged to attend this special premiere and celebrate the accomplishments of these emerging filmmakers as they share their creative vision on the big screen.
Admission is free, and all are welcome.
The Youth Movie-Making Workshop is presented by the University of the Virgin Islands Reichhold Center for the Arts with support from the Rachel Hamilton Team Student Initiative, St. Thomas Federal Credit Union, Westin Hotels & Resorts, and funding provided in part by the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
