UVI celebrated the official opening of the newly renovated Albert A. Sheen Campus Dining Pavilion on Aug. 18, 2025. The facility, now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, features expanded menu options in addition to major upgrades to enhance the UVI community dining experience.

Renovations included improvements to the cafeteria, kitchen, Bucs Lounge, exterior dining spaces and nearby restrooms. Updates ranged from new furniture, appliances and light fixtures to painting, floor restoration and ceiling repairs, creating a modern and welcoming atmosphere.

The project’s first phase was completed over the spring and summer, with UVI’s Physical Plant team performing much of the work in-house. Additional upgrades are planned during the fall semester.

The project also drew wide support across campuses and the community. The Enrollment Management Office and the Center for Student Success provided resources, while surplus furniture, equipment, and supplies came from several Orville E. Kean Campus departments. Members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. volunteered their time to assist with moving equipment and furniture. Newly hired dining staff completed orientation and training on UVI’s mission and service standards.

“The Dining Pavilion reflects the true meaning of ONE UVI,” said Toi Matthews, assistant vice president of administration on the AAS Campus. “This achievement was made possible by collaboration, community partnerships and a shared commitment to excellence.”
